Greetings Humans, Aliens, and Camp Beings alike! My name is Texas and I am a camp counselor. I am 21 years old and I’m not quite sure what I want to do when I grow up but I know it has something to do with camp!
My first year as a camp counselor was at Camp Spike N Wave ¹ with the Epilepsy Foundation of Texas- Houston/Dallas-Fort Worth/West Texas (whew yeah we’ll just call them EFTX). I’ve been one of their awesome counselors for 3 summers (2014, ’15, ’16). In 2015 I was also a counselor with Camp Brainstorm and the Epilepsy Foundation of Central and South Texas² or EFCST. Those two will always hold special places in my heart. But like the state of Texas, my heart is big enough for more than two camps. That being said, for summer 2017 I will be at Camp Sealth on Vashon Island, WA.
Questions I always get asked by campers of all ages:
- Do you have siblings?
Yes. I have a pretty cool older sister who is a French Teacher near Seattle and an LSU Alumni (Geaux Tigers!). I also have three younger brothers: one is a Sanitation Engineer or as he says “Janitor”, and the other two are still in school.
- Do you have a boyfriend?
No, boys have cooties from Jupiter! (They never get that one… makes me feel old)
- Why are you so loud?
Because this is camp, why are you so quiet?
- Do you have any pets?
Yes! My family has a chihuahua/dachshund mix named Chuy. He enjoys barking to make himself sound big and bad and wearing his orange polo that makes him look like a Whataburger employee.
- What’s your favorite color?
- When’s your birthday?
Hopefully that’s a good amount of info on me!
